we would host dinner parties in our college apartments at uc berkeley any chance we got.
we were students not satisfied with just meeting people in our classes or our majors. we were frustrated by how many incredible people on campus never ended up meeting. the best piano player on campus never meets the best cancer researcher.
we thought that was ridiculous, so we invited our most fascinating friends from different worlds. our chef friends cooked, and our musician friends performed. artists, writers, researchers, and founders, all below the age of 22, in one room.
we made our own rules. everyone had to dress up and come with an open mind. we wrote letters to each guest and arranged seats based on who we thought would get along best. turns out our guests were all the same passionate, brilliant, obsessive person. they were just interested in different things. the energy in the room was unlike anything we had felt before.
we got addicted to hosting.
we hosted every month after that. the guests always wanted more. they would hit us up asking when the next event was. we believed them when, after we would try to end the night, they simply wouldn’t leave. they were high on the energy of the room.
after every event, we asked our guests what we could do to improve, and we did. we found cooler venues, better chefs, more performers. we started hosting in more cities like sf, la, nyc, and austin.
our goal was to bring together people who wouldn’t otherwise meet, in spaces they wouldn’t otherwise be in, through experiences they wouldn’t otherwise have.
we are ambitious; so are our friends. we are a community of achievers. our friends are some of the most promising people in their industries and will likely become decision makers. our goal is to connect friends from different industries early on so they can make more informed decisions later.
we are here, most of all, to remind our friends that we are more than our careers. our events are an attempt to slow down our fast-paced lives. since we cannot stop time, we try to create unforgettable memories through spectacle.
as the world changes and our lives become more artificial and automated, spaces like the ones we create become more important.
we believe that life is beautiful, and our events are an attempt to show just how beautiful life can be.
